We the undersigned ask you to sign our petition. It is against the law to presently transfer a perfectly functioning insulin pump to another person. We are gathering signatures to place this initiative on the California ballot so insulin pumps can be transferred to another person without the risk of liability or threat of lawsuit to the individual donating the insulin pump. Unfortunately, insulin pumps are presently discarded. Given the state of our health care system and the billions of dollars spent to care for those suffering long term complications from Diabetes Type I, it is imperative legislation is passed to protect an individual donating an insulin pump from the threat of lawsuit or any liability. The person receiving the Pre-Owned Insulin Pump would waive their right to sue under any circumstances. It is extremely difficult for both children and adults to deal with several injections a day. This is an excellent way to assist those in need by providing an opportunity to receive a Pre-Owned Insulin Pump. This would eliminate multiple injections and the wearer will only need to change their infusion site (point of entry where the insulin enters the body) every three days.
